Snoweagle looked on silently as the kit whimpered. What do i do? I'm not a she-cat! He wondered. And most certainly not a mother. He gently picked up the kit with his teeth and tiptoed through the brambles. That wound does NOT look good. He thought, looking at the slash mark. Suddenly, he wondered where the kit was from. He took a good sniff and nearly dropped the kit to gasp. Fear? But Fear was dead. He decided to dismiss that and take the kit to camp.
...
"How will we feed this kit?" Moss asked Snoweagle. "Nobody here can nurse the poor thing. And it can't eat fresh kill yet.."
"What will happen to it?" Asked Lightkit, lifting her head. "Will it die?"
"Of course not." Moss replied. "Mabye..." Moss paused. "oh, I don't know..." Snoweagle looked at the cat's claw mark.
"Will the scratch heal?" Snoweagle asked.
"No. it's too far gone to heal now." Moss said, looking at her paws. "The most i can do is get the infection out of it."
"Can't we go looking for a mom?" Asked Lightkit. "Our clan can't feed it."
"Well, we certainly can't feed it without milk." Moss told her. Lightkit sighed.
"Moss?" Lightkit asked. "Can i ask you something?"
"Yes?" Replied Moss. "What is it?"
Lightkit took a deep breath and braced herself for the answer. "Will i ever be a apprentice?" She asked, then coughed.
Moss looked at her. "Maybe." Moss sighed. She looked at the kit. "I can say the same for this fellow. I wonder who it's mom is." Snoweagle Walked over to Lightkit."Do you want to go for a walk in the woods?" he asked.
Lightkit sighed. "No." she said. "I want to think of a name for this kit." She tilted her head to one side. "I think Slashkit fits. It should be part of our clan." She said.
Snoweagle rembered something. "This is not a real clan-at the moment." He told Lightkit. "Lightning needs to earn his 9 lives."
"Why not talk to him about that?" Lightkit said.
"You know..." Snoweagle started. "That's not a bad idea. I'll go talk to him right now."
